Water in the walls tank systems is an innovative new building system utilizing real concrete walls that hold water. These walls act as: security, water harvesting systems, passive heating and cooling elements, fire suppression, household water supply, emergency water supply as well as aesthetic enhancements. Our real bulletproof walls look like a stuccoed adobe or straw bale wall when completed.
Our project is about funding prototypes as well as the forms to produce the prototypes and future modules.
Our Water in the walls tank systems are built as a modular system allowing a wide range of design options. The forms to create these walls, act as molds so that the concrete can be placed accurately, minimizing finish work. We have already paid for CAD drawing, engineering and patent pending status on the system and have building plans approved by the county for prototype construction!
Typical water harvesting cisterns are considered an eyesore by many, leading neighborhood associations to prevent many people from harvesting water. Our tanks because they are walls will be allowed and embraced by neighborhood associations. With our modular system any architectural style from modern to Santa Fe can be achieved while creating green buildings and landscapes that enrich our lives!
Thermal mass is critical in passive solar designs. Concrete is often used to create this thermal mass, but water has 3 times the thermal mass of concrete. This means walls that are filled with water have significantly better thermal properties.
Given the recent advances in alkali activated concrete which are allowing carbon reduction by 30% compared to portland cement, concrete is literally getting greener! We plan to harness this material to one of its best uses, building the places we live and work! Couple this with the fact that plastic water tanks in my area, Arizona, only last about ten years then become large waste in a landfill, and our tanks are the greenest thing going!
